About Aequus Archery

Hi, I'm Francesco, webmaster for Aequus Archers and a software engineer by trade.

Archery clubs are kept alive by volunteers. They give up their evenings and weekends to manage memberships, organise beginner courses and community events, run tournaments, chase payments, and keep on top of the books. It's a lot of work, and most of it has nothing to do with actually shooting.

After years of dealing with platforms that weren't built for clubs like ours, voluntary-run, self-funded, and doing everything on goodwill and spare time, I decided to build something better. Too many tools charge extortionate fees for basic features that small clubs simply can't justify.

Aequus Archery exists to give something back to the archery community. It's a platform that's fairer, more affordable, and designed around how grassroots clubs actually work. The small fees we charge are purely to cover operational costs like hosting, payment processing, and infrastructure. This isn't a business trying to turn a profit. It's a community project built to serve clubs like yours, so the people who keep our sport running can spend a bit less time on admin and a bit more time on the range.

The name “Aequus” comes from the Latin for “fair” and “equitable,” and that's exactly the principle this is built on.

Fair, usage-based pricing

No subscriptions. No tiers. You only pay for what you use. Clubs that go quiet over winter pay nothing.

2%

Aequus platform fee

of all payments processed (bookings, tournaments, memberships)

1.5% + 20p

Payment processing fee

per transaction — charged by our payment provider to securely handle card payments (UK cards). This is not our fee, but we want you to see the full picture.

£1

Media storage

per 10GB/month over 2GB free (when coaching spaces launches)

Example: On a £90 beginner course booking, the total fees are: Aequus 2% (£1.80) + Stripe ~1.5% + 20p (£1.55) = £3.35 total. Your club receives £86.65 (96.3% of the booking).

A tiny club running occasional tasters pays as little as a few pounds a month. Clubs that go quiet over winter pay nothing.

For context, Eventbrite charges 6.95% + £0.49 per ticket. Even with Stripe processing included, our total cost (~3.7%) is roughly half of what you'd pay elsewhere.
